One thing that never seems to get mentioned regarding fuel mileage is how does one fill the tank. I for one fill the tank up to the lip. I have done this since i got the truck. Sure it takes a heck of a long time but i do it.

If you don't then your mpg numbers tend to vary quite a bit. With this being said here are the other variables.

2000 f350 XL super cab,srw,2wd,stock 7.3l,6 speed manual,8 foot bed,no power seats, windows, locks. Vinyl bench front seat. No rear seat. No carpet.

Currently have 198959 miles on it. Purchased it 6 months ago with 186654 on the odometer. It works out to roughly 2000 miles a month.

Have gotten between 19.1 and 20.5 during those 12,000 miles. I use DK with every fillup. Have even ran 3000 miles with synthetic oil.

I travel 60 miles a day. 5 days a week. Some on the weekends. The average speed is 60-65 MPH. I short shift whenever possible. Always trying to not go over 2 grand on the tach.

I have never towed anything as of yet.

I will add that the time I got 19.1 was when i ran some interstate (75 MPH) and of course over 2 grand on the tach.

I live in N. Fla. so hills etc. are not a issue. Of course warmer temps. However, it did drop to 21 a few nights back.

These are the facts which do not lie.....

See ya.

What do most men lie about?

1. Fuel mileage

2. Time it takes to drive somewhere.

3. Size of their package.

4. How much money they make.

5. How many women they have slept with.

I could keep going but I think you guys get the point.

I have a 05 f250 4x4 cc. Recently I purchased a flash pack from super chips and saw a mpg increase around town. I first programed the truck with the economy programing , with little or no difference, but after installing the performance programing and driving it conservatively, the mpg increased over the last 2 tanks from 12.9 to 14.6. I wonder why that is.

I kept a hand caluculated log on my 2006, and it averaged 14.25 mpg over 11K miles. My 2007 is already getting a little better mpg from the start and it's the same exact configuration. Each truck is a unique animal.
