I just bought a used 2006 F 350 super crew cab dually with a 5 speed automatic transmission and a 6.0 L Powerstroke diesel. It had about 36 K miles on it when I bought it. I have put nearly 2 thousand miles on it. I am getting 15.66 mpg. I read other posts that say they get 17 - 19 mpg. I have not done any towing with it yet. Is 15.66 pretty much the normal mpg for the truck that I have? Thanks.
That is abnormal..... You should at least see 11 to 12 mpg. I'd be happy with what you got. I saw 19 with my first tank, stock, 3 tanks later still stock 13 to 15. Now with the lift and bigger tires.... lucky to see 12 but i sure do love the way it looks and runs.
I'm sorry. I live in the country on a dirt road. I drive slow on these roads. It is about 25 miles to town. I live in Arkansas and the speed limit around here is 55 mph. I got 15.66 mpg driving around here locally. I just got back from a trip to Hearne, TX. About 850 miles round trip. Most miles were at 70 mph. I got 15.66 mpg on these miles also.
is it a 4x4? I got 17.8mpg on my 250 supercab 4x4 with fuel additive. I can notice how much better the truck runs and starts with it. Try some and maby you will see a increase. beat on it some to clean her out.
It depends on your rear gear ratio as well. If you've got the Tow Boss package, you've got 4.30 gears so you won't likely see great mileage. My '05 has 36k on it now. I average 15-17 in mixed driving. I have seen as high as 21.7 though on a long trip. Yours will also probably be a little lower due to the fact that the dually is going to be heavier than an SRW truck.
My Bad....On Edit: I use Diesel Kleen every tank. Grey in warm weather and white in cold weather.

Reason: add info
Check the garage above...I know the numbers listed on my F250 are real; and there are two F250 and three F350 with numbers listed. I'm getting close to 18 mpg on average; though granted I've gotten better while I was driving like a "good boy"
I have been getting anywhere from 17-18.5 on country roads in my area to 20+ on turnpike/interstate between 65-70. F250 Supercab 4X4 weight is 7,020 with me and full tank. I use the Motorcraft additive and also 2 stroke oil.
This truck was peacefully surrendered as a reposession in Lousiana. I bought it from Mark Martin Ford in Batesville, Arkansas. There was no owners manual in the truck. I downloaded the manual online. The truck is very clean and hopefully, has been taken care of properly. It is 2WD. It has the factory installed trailer wiring. Does that mean it has the tow boss package? I am not unhappy with my milage. I am just curious. I bought the truck to haul my travel trailer with. Thanks
Look inside the drivers side door jamb and you will see the truck makeup sticker. Give us the axle ratio code and you can see what ratio the rear is. I think the tow boss comes with the 4.30 rear.
If your truck is a 2wd the mileage might be a little on the low side as that's what I get in mixed rural driving.
If you can afford it try switching to synthetic oil (5W-40) on your next change. Mine loved it and it increased my mileage about 1.5 MPG's
