I have a 99 F-150 long bed, 5.4 4x4. 306,000+ miles and still rolling. Never changed the plugs yet. Scared to now, heard too many stories of pulling the threads out with the plug.

At 130,000 alternator & battery replaced (one probably caused the other)
At 190,000 transmission was replaced

Misc items

wiring harness from the battery to the starter (coroded)
1 coil pack #5 cylinder
both right and left lower ball joints replaced
inner and outer tie-rod ends replaced some twice
Rotors twice
passenger side rear axle due to bearing malfunction
front valance replaced after hitting 20+ deer
numerous headlights & fog lights
darn heater blower motor is out just in time for winter!

This truck is driven 100+ miles a day and towed a race car on an open trailer around the country the last 2 summers.

Good luck to all, I'm sure you'll have the same or better performance out of yours!

Tom

ive seen a fleet truck for a local pest control company with 362k on the ticker. was a 97 f-150 with a 4.6. was a base model Xl work truck. manual everything no AC but it was goin strong on all original powertrain. he owner was very picky about his maintinence. if you take care of these trucks they will take care of you. Ive put 75k hard miles on my 2001 5.4 in less then two years but i take care of it. it has oly failed to start once, that was just recently, fuel pressure was too low, replaced the pump and its all good now.

my 99 f150 just rolled 56K. Need to drive it more, I'm afraid of the truck breaking out of boredom instead of wear and tear. haha

I've got a '97 F-150 with 176K. Purchased it new in 11/96. The only thing that has gone out is alternator in the 120's I believe, and I did plugs and wires at 109K for check engine light (cyl 1 misfire). It has eaten numerous sets of brake pads and shoes, shoes always crack/fracture.
This is horrible to say, but I'm still running on my original antifreeze. I've spoke with many folks who have had there water pump go out after replacing, so I've let it roll so far. (bad, I know.....)
Had tranny serviced twice, and it's due again. Been a real solid truck, with phantom issues with wiper/turn signal lever.
4.6 V8

I hear you on the phantom wiper thing. It has plagued every Ford p/u i've owned except this one. I'd change that antifreeze STAT. New antifreeze will not make your system fail.

i got a 99 f-150 with 107k on it ive replaced all tie rods and breaks all around...also i've replaced the #4 coil twice due to a occasional drip from a hose above it.I installed the preditor tune an aem cold air kit and a 150 shot of nos...my only problem now is a noisy rear end with some chatter....any one know if there is a rebuild kit and is it a difficult job...

2001 f150 4.2 5 speed just turned over 46 bought it with 24 august last year. Good truck I want to turn it into a prerunner. I know a guy who has the 4.6 in his limo. He has somewhere over 650000 miles on it. He says hes had nothing go on it except alternators. I guess ford is interested in the motor when he turns it over a million. They said they would buy him a new crate motor so they could have the motor. I cant imagine driving a 650000 miles in a limo
