radio blank display
Hey Ruddy, sounds like we have similar tastes, my son and 2 daughters all have or have had Labs, neat dogs. My son and Daughter in law have a new Volvo, got it as a safe car for their baby girl (Ford owns Volvo now so it's OK ) A guy at work is a Ford guy too he has a nice 66 289 4 speed Fairlane 2 dr hardtop (he'll sell at a good price) a 67 390 GTA Torino, and a 67 Comet Caliente as well as a bunch of 60's and Fox Mustangs, his son opened a speed shop for cars and boats in the Modesto area I believe, we live near Santa Cruz by the coast.
I've got question, did you get a pre-cut piece of foam for your seat? If so where did you get it? I've got a flat spot on my full size Bronco seat and I think all the Ford bucket seats in the 80's and early 90' were pretty much the same. My rear end gasket leaked too, replaced the gasket, the valve cover gaskets leak a bit, it's a pain to replace so until they get real bad I'll live with 'em. All my fuel injected Fords pass the smog ****'s with flying colors, I replaced the EGR pipe before I had the B2 tested and it passed fine, I have to get everthing "test only" now so I make sure they will pass as you only get one test, if it fails you get the "gross polluter" classification, big problem! Good luck with the Bronco2 I'll send some more posts if I think of anymore useful info

Fleet,
'bout the foam. No, I just swapped the passenger and drivers foam with a some hot glue to close some of the cracks. I swapped the springs/wire also. The only thing I couldn't change was the elongated spring holes in the frame. Driver's seat feels real nice now. Ihaven't put the passenger one back together yet, hopefully it will be better than the drivers seat was.
I'm going to post a new question about front wheel bearings.

Update on radio bulb replacement
I finally did this about 2 months ago, but never explained how.....
Seems that the '89 Bronco II has a different dash facia than the ones before it.
-There are only 2 screws behind the ash tray. All the other connectors are one way style, push in, "door panel type" connectors.
-I had to find the click-in tabs in the 2 dash vents, use a hooked tool, to pry up the tabs, then was able to pull them out.
-with those out, you can get to most of the upper connectors and squeeze them with some needle nose pliers, while pulling out on the facia. There was one on the left, I couldn't get to and just was lucky that it did not break when I pulled hard.
-Now the radio is exposed. I stuck four nails into the outside holes and pushed outward on the nails, to release the radio from the dash.
-the rest is the same as decribed by "fleet bronco" and "pfogle"
-the bulb I got from the dealer was only $1.49, but they said the don't have the frosted ones anymore. Its not too much brighter.
While the facia was off, I was able to get the instrument plexiglass cover off, which had fine scratches on the outside and it was really dusty in the inside. I used Meguires paint cleaner on the plastic, which did a real nice job of removing the fine scratches and it looks very clear now.

Glad everything worked out, my Bronco II is an '87 and the facia was much easier to remove than your '89, my full size '90 Bronco was even easier as it has a seperate facia that only covers the radio and HVAC controls, it just pulls off effortlessly. I bought all the frosted bulbs (6) that the dealer in Los Gatos, Swanson Ford had in stock, glad I did since they are discontinued now although other common bulbs work well too. Meguires makes good polishes for sure, I use the alloy polish on my machine finnish American Eagle wheels on my Jeep, nothing else barely even works.
Fernaldude, there's a guy at work, Fernando we call Fernandude, he's a Ford guy too so he deserves the "dude'" suffix. Glad you got your radio lit up, from all the help in the forms it sure does make life easier for us. The procedure sounds similar once the radio is out, getting the radio out is different depending on the year, sounds like 86 - 88 are different than 89 and up as they have the 4 hole faceplate radio requiring the "u" shaped radio removal tool or nails as Ruddy used rather than the 4 screw "L" brackets on the side, either way they come out fairly easily if you know how.
I found box of them, wondering if it is good price? Any suggestions highly appreciated.
