Cassette tape stuck in

My wife uses a cassette tape style ipod adapter in our Expe. It kept ejecting itself for some reason. So she tried a regular cassette tape. Now that is stuck in there. When you push the tape button, the display says "no tape". When you hit eject, it makes some noise like its gonna eject the tape but nothing happens. She said she tried getting a pair of pliers in there, but it didn't fit. I tried a little prying with a screwdriver with no luck. This is the original factory radio with cassette player in the head unit and CD changer in the center console. Any suggestions?

You're not going to pull the cassette out. When it goes in there is a metal stem that goes through the cassette. Your only option to remove it without damaging the radio is to remove the radio and pull the covers off it to get at the cassette.

Ughh. Thanks Alloro. I don't really wanna take the radio apart. I'll see if my wife can live without it.

Check to see if there is a pin hole near it, some cassettes have a release you can push with a pin.

Long ago, just after dirt was invented there were these things called cassette tapes. Perhaps you can learn about them in a history book or at a museum.

The stuck tape mysteriously popped itself out when my wife started up the Expe today. I'm thinking of pouring cement in the cassette player and sealing it up forever .

Ah good, fortunately luck was on your side. Try a strip of clear tape over the opening instead of pouring cement into it. You'll thank me later.

Solved

Disconnect and reconnect the battery, it resets the radio and you can then hit eject
