got two problems. just rebuilt my 92 F-150, its got 5.0 EFI, put a mild reground cam in it along with some headders and an edilbrock intake. so now to the problems, 1) i look in the manual to see about the timing on it and it says with the type of ignition is on it " no timing is possible or should be attempted" whats the story on that and how the hell am i supposed to tune it. 2) the truck runs and took it out on the street for a test drive a few times, and evertime i would come to a stop light or something and i would push in the clutch it will die. when i start it it seems to idle fine and everyonce in a while comming to a stop it does not stall, so whats with the intermitent stalling? thanks guys

The computer controls the timing. But it does need to be set to get it in the neighborhood so the computer has some range of adjustment. To adjust the timing though, you need to take control away from the computer temporarily so you can set it with a timing light.
Follow the wires leaving the distributor. There should be one wire that is not grouped with the others. Follow this wire and you should hit a single plug, or a funny looking jumper plug. This is called the spout connector. You need to take this jumper out, or unplug this wire.
Then get it running, and with a timing light set it according to the radiator sticker. I think it may be around 10 degrees BTDC but that's off the top of my head. You should be able to turn the dist and set it just like the older engines.
When you are all done, make sure you plug the spout back in. This will hand over the timing back to the computer.
