I had two, several years apart, both while in the military. The military being more conservative, they'll probably keep you overnight, at least. I stayed three nights, but that's cause I had the last one done on a Friday. I agree about the coughing, sneezing and laughing - don't! I was also given the full 30 days medical leave. Took about a week or ten days to get over any pain, and I went back to the unit "unofficially" after two weeks - bored out of my gourd! But I just did paperwork, no lifting or exercising for nearly 6 weeks. The operations themselves were no big deal - local anasthesia, and back in my room in about 2-1/2 hours. Good luck, guy!

Well, it wont be a military hospital doing the surgery, i am a recruiter, and am nowhere near a treatment facility. But for some odd reason, after the doctor poked around yesterday, it hurts worse today than it ever has.

The Shouldice method is well known. Friends of mine have had this surgery done at their Toronto, Ontario clinic, and swear by it. It's day surgery this way. Maybe they have clinics near you.
I don't know if I'd trust a surgeon that can't spell 'laparoscopy'.
