Steering Column Components
My '76 F250 4x4 makes a clicking noise inside the column when I turn the wheel side-to-side and makes the same noise when I hit a bump in the road. I want to pull the steering wheel anyway to repair/replace turn signal switch and to address the AT shift pawl(it pops out of Park!). Are there some bearings inside the column that I can replace? Could that be the cause of the noise?

Not sure about the noise. The park pall is in the tranny although there is a "sector" plate in the column. There is also a bearing in there. I used a washer to eliminate the up and down play in mine.

Ok-hmmm. Then my sector plate is worn out, because none of the lockouts work. I can pull the sector handle down out of park w/o having to pull back on it simultaneously. Hopefully I will find the noise after pulling the wheel. Thanks for the help!
