Hello all, I cooked the old 351m in my '79 f250, and i have access to a junked 1984 f150 with the 300 inline six...
my question is, what will i do about the engine mounts, and frame mounts, the actual frame of the truck looks different between the '84 and the '79..i need to know if these mounts are going to fit before i really get into it.
will i have to cut and weld the mounts? or will it just bolt in? also..would it be a c6 or a c4 tranny with the 300 six? the pan on the 300 tranny is the same as the c6 that i pulled with the 351m. a speedy reply would be greatly appreciated.:-)
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Jul-02 AT 05:46 PM (EST)]Here's what I know..: you will at least need the perches and mounts off an equivalent 73-79 truck fitted for a 300 / 240. The 351M shares the big block bolt pattern for the tranny. A few 300's (small block) have the "small bell C6" and I'm sure your 351M has a C6 (that's why the pans match - the C4 has square pan without the extra corner). The questsion is, can you swap the bell housings? -not sure on that one. Be careful to note what year truck you pull the perches off. I know that the '79 perches require different mounts than the earlier years.

i'm pulling the engine and the tranny out of the newer truck, it's outside right now ready to pull. unfortunatly i don't have access to 240/300 perches from an older truck like mine..is there any possible way to weld up some kind of rig to make this work? I can't afford the truck downtime because i need this truck for work, i spent my last dollar buying the donor truck. this is where i am, and i've gotta think up something.
it's all good guys, i pulled the engine and tranny and dropped the in the 300 with it's tranny, had to use the perches from the bigblock, but i just arc welded them in place, tomorrow i hook up all the other stuff, so we'll see what happens.
