What I find extremely frustrating is that Ford won't build a SuperCab with a four cylinder and 5 speed. I get terrific mileage in my 2002 RC Ranger (about 24.5 MPG in City driving in summer, 22 in Winter). Don't miss the 16 to 17 MPG in my 99 SC, but I really miss the room. Performance isn't superb with the 2.3L, but I'm not trying to win any races. Sure would be nice to get a little interior room with my MPGs....
I hope they follow through with the 2.3L in the SC...sure would be nice! I would prefer a diesel, but I don't see that happening soon. I notice the Jeep Liberty now offers a diesel, but even in THAT vehicle they only paired it up with an automatic! It is also disappointing to me that Ford offers the true 4-door crew cab Ranger outside this country, but not in the good old USA. I like the appearance of the 4-door Ranger over the Explorer SportTrac...just don't understand marketing at Ford these days...

Its just that, marketing. Most people say ohhh... SUV not ugly truck. So they can jack the price up while most of us here would rather have the 4 door ranger, the Soccer Mom masses that buy the big chucnk of cars get their ego stroked into buy the "SUV"
Nope. I can't find one either. If you try to "build" one on the Ford website, the minute you select the supercab option the 2.3L is blocked out. You would think Ford would want to rush some of these into production with the way fuel prices are going. If someone can ACTUALLY show me one, I'd love to see it!
The Ford website is still set up for 2005's. Contact your local dealer and he'll verify that it's available. The press release which announced it is on this website here.
