Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has personally compared the legroom in the supercabs on a ford and a chevy. My dad says that the chevy's has some more room.
I was also wondering how much room a new supercab has compared to my 95. The backseat on my 95 is pretty much useless for an adult, its always folded down for storage, so I was wondering how much legroom people have in a new supercab.
Also, does the rear seat on the newer supercabs fold down like the 95?
Thanks for the info!

In my opinion they are pretty close to the same (that is comparing the 250/350 super duty crew cabs to a new 3/4 ton chev crew cab).
In my super cab there is enough room for a 6' person to sit in the back seat, but there isn't much room to stretch out.
As far as how the seats fold down there are a couple different ways that they fold depending on the year or maybe the interior options. my rear seat cushion flips over and the back folds down to have a completely flat surface. on my dad's the bottom cushion just flips up toward the back so there isn't quite as much space to store something.

The seat bottom folds up against the rear wall of the cab on my 2007 Supercab F350. The crank for the jack is the only thing left on the floor, otherwise it's clear for storage. My friends with mid 90's Ford supercabs both thought it was a better arrangement.
Legroom, well I'm 6' tall and I wouldn't want to ride in the back for a long period of time, but it seems adequate for smaller people.
On my '03 F250 SD SC...the rear seat folds up...for added storage or tool box carry space.
I suppose the rear area does have limited space. But that also depends on how far back you put the front seats. I personally would never want to sit back there, but my kids have plenty of space.
I would suggest going to the chebby website and FORD website and compare the two trucks. They have all the info there. Just make sure you are comparing the same model years. Just to make it a fair test.
hey, just saw that i had typed crew cab in the second paragraph instead of supercab, sorry about that, I edited it now. but thanks for the quick reply!
I can tell you about the 2007 and compare it to the 1995 F-150. I traded a 1995 F-150 SC for a 2007 F-250 SC.
The 2007 F-250 SuperCab is larger than the 1995 F-150 SuperCab I used to drive. The seats do not fold down like yours do now, the fold up. However, even though it is larger I would not want to ride back there for an extended period of time. It's be OK for a couple of preteen kids. If you want to seat adults for extended trips, get a Crew Cab.
My dog rides in the back of mine. I flip the seat up and place his dog bed on the floor. He loves it. He's a Ford dog.
You have to wonder about that, since there is no mid pillar in the SC.
No doubt the CC is a safer cab, but your main rigidity is going to come from your frame (side impact) and your roof for rollover protection. While the CC does have a pillar it also has a longer roof.
that was the main thing that I was wondering about was a side impact, it would seem that a supercab might crumple worse without that pillar, but I dont know, I am not an engineer and ford probably takes all that stuff into consideration.
ok, I had just figured that the cab had something to do with it, but now I am not that worried about the supercab, i guess this fall when it comes time to buy will just have to see what feels better the crew cab or supercab
I've seen enough wrecked SuperCab SD's to be VERY concerned about the rigidity of the cab during a rollover.
The one that got me really worried was where the roof had crunched down on the drivers seat, bending it back, and there was some kind of 'natural dye' that made the tan leather seat, turn red.
I think you hit the nail on the head, the SC doesn't have a pillar to support the roof.
Back to the original question, the Chevy undoubtedly has more room than a SD. I'm 6'1" and can fit somewhat comfortably in the back of my friends x-cab Chevy, but if I'm passenger in my truck, the front seat has to be pushed all the way forward, and even then, I'm sucking my knees.
I drive both a 06 SuperCab Short bed and a 03 CrewCab Long bed. CrewCab is my work truck and is driven every day. Both are PSD. Work truck has its pluses in that I can haul more then two people with ease. Driving around town and parking sucks. The SuperCab is my personal truck, which I use to tow a 26’, 8,000lb trailer. The SuperCab can still haul more then two people but not for any length of time. Around town driving and parking is sportscar like, towing is also a dream with the added turning radius. Now my driving preference, SuperCab hands down, but in my personal life its me and my wife.
Thanks for the info CARV, choices keep getting harder and harder! yeah, i guess that a rollover is one thing where the strength of the frame probably wont help out much, so in that case, the crewcab might be a little better.
