Hey guys great news. U know how u all hate the PVH system on the pre-02 (i think) rangers? The solution is the AVM Manual locking hubs. I know these have been mentioned before on the threads but I havent heard of anyone whos tried them. I have a '99 B-3000 and I was having so much problems with my PVH that I said what the heck, anything can be better than this. Well I ordered them ($275 shipped to Hawaii) and installed them back in June. I decided to run them a while before I post something and stick my foot in my mouth. So far no problems (knock on wood) and they work as any manual hub should. Just thought Id help cure some of the frustration out there.
ks-international . com. they are the dealer in europe. if thats not it then google search KS International. They are the AVM 470 i think. i think i was able to reference it on the site. I wish someone told me earlier about the other thread.
Thanks. One more question, with these hubs can you switch back and forth between locked and unlocked or are they premanently locked. If so, how? By taking the tire off I assume? I guess I would just leave them locked in the winter and unlocked in the summer...
They are like normal manual locking hubs like on the old trucks b4 people started getting lazy. u turn em clockwise to lock em and counterclockwise to unlock. they are real MANUAL LOCKING HUBS.
i will try as soon as a get a digi and my truck arrives on friday. U all know that black thing with the little metal screen in the center. The new hubs replace that whole assembly. you strip it right down to the splines and put on the new assembly. the install takes only about 20min. Ill try and get some pics but i dont know how to post them. ill try and get some pics on friday and post them this weekend.
Found the web site but didn't see any thing about hubs closest thing was cv joints, what was the part # you used to order your hubs? Haven't had any problems with mine yet but from the sounds of it, it is only a matter of time. With winter just around the corner no reason to chance it. Can't wait to see pics. Also what did you do to the vacum part just plug it off? Thanks

they might have changed dealers so if you google search "AVM Hubs" you can get to their site and it has cross-sectional pictures, a sales email address and a reference chart for finding the right model.

The T-case still uses the switch. Also, the T-case doesnt care whether or not the hubs are locked so 2wd Low is a great option.
BTW i know its off subject and im stealing my own thread but does anyone know whether an air locker or e-locker is better. I want to be able to lock the diff but i want to have control of when.
Hawaii huh? Doesn't it get boring driving in circles around the island in that warm tropical climate....man I feel so sorry for you being in that hellhole. LOL....man I'm jealous.
boring? what are you talking about. If i wanna go to the mountains for some mud, 10-20min drive. sand down at the beach? 10-20min drive. If u ask me its better than having to drive 100miles across a state. besides, you can actually swim in the ocean without freezing.
