steering stabalizrers

I have my 1974 Highboy now. It has now power steering, and no stabalizer. It has the holes and brackets for one. Is it needed without having power steering? Also, will that help get rid of the violent shimmy and shake?

First, if it's a violent shake, just putting on stabilizer will only cover up a problem. Something else is wrong.

Without PS, a stabilizer will make is harder to steer. Remember that it is adding resistance to movement, which will make your effort that much more.

I'd start looking at replacing some worn steering components before I would just through a stabilizer on.
