Hi everyone! My husband and I recently bought a 1948 F-1 pickup and it has a 302 engine out of a 1978 Lincoln. He was trying to find a pilot bearing and the local auto store didnt have one, so his Dad is going to make one(hes a machinist) and wanted to know if it is made out of steel or bearing brass?
It's made of sintered bronze. Type 660 bearing bronze would work okay I suppose, but the material will cost more than a store bought bearing.
Probably the reason the parts store can't find a bearing is that Lincolns didn't come with standard transmissions in 1978. Just tell the parts man that it's a 1978 Granada with a 302 and standard transmission.
Fits: 1975/80 Granada 302 / 1973/77 Maverick/Comet 302 / 1974/76 Torino / 1976/95 Mustang V8's / 1979 Mustang 200 / And etc.
No Lincoln had a 302 engine prior to 1980 except the 1977/79 Lincoln Versailles, which is nothing more than a Granada with different front/rear styling.
Stick shift Lincolns: A few LS models (they didn't sell very many). Prior to these, you have to go back to 1951 to see another.
