KOEO 543 or CM 543? A KOEO 543, and the pump running suggests that the wiring fault is between the computer and the actual fuel pump circuit. A CM 543 could indicate that the fuel pump circuit is intermittently cutting out.
Code 543 is "Fuel pump circuit open connection - ECA/Electronic Control Assembly to battery."
I'd suspect a bad FP relay, that's 'chattering' and giving an intermittant circuit. You can exchange the FP relay with the A/C clutch relay, to check it.
already cleaned the ground wires and cleared the codes. and replaced the battery just due to age no other reason. Do I just pull the ac relay and insert it in the fp slot?? thanks
Yes, Martha, just switch them around. They're the exact same type relays. Clear the codes, and see if they come back with the relays switched. If they don't, then a new relay is in order (for the A/C). If they do come back, then the trouble lies elsewhere.....
