Well, the one tool I needed replaced was my 3/8 drive Snapon clicker torque wrench I bought in 71. I found two different drivers who refused to exchange it due to the age.

Craftsman wrenches, screwdrivers, etc bought at the same time have been no problem..

Let's not give somebody the wrong idea. The heads of clicker torque wrenchs are normally covered under warranty, the guts and calibration are not. I have a new 3/8 torque wrench, that was knocked out of calibration in shipping, yet the el cheapo, I bought for one job when I was 16, was checked two years ago, and nobody could believe it was still in calibration.
Craftsman does have a lifetime warranty on beam torque wrenchs, though I never see them used anymore.

Since we know you have online capabilities, I'd contact Snap~on directly. If/when they say the heads are covered, ask for the regional manager to drop by your shop. That tends to move the drivers.

Speaking of torque wrenches, I only use beam type torque wrenches. Reason being they never go out of calibration unless someone takes a torch to the beam and weakens the metal. I have a 3/4" beam ( 300 Ft. Lbs. ) wrench manufactured by P A Sturtevant about 40 years ago and it is still as accurate as the day it was made. Only problem is they can be hard to read while pulling on them. You need someone else to read it at higher torque readings.

If the ratchet head can be disassembled, you can get a rebuild kit. It depends on your dealer as to whether they charge you or not, I got 2 kits, one for my 1/2 and one for my3/8, and he didn't charge due to the volume my friend does that I had turn it in... I have heard that Snap on is tightening up a little on the warranty, wear parts aren't always being warranted. I have had a few chrome sockets spilt that I use on the impact and they have always replaced them I had a phillips screwdriver that I dropped and happened to land just right and shorted from the starter terminal to ground on a dodge spirit, melted the tip off, covered it, and a few prybars that the tip gets broken off from abuse, and always covered them no question.

Yeh, well, its been a few years now since we broke the wrench and 'unable' to fix it we tossed it.. (the snapon driver didn't suggest a repair package either!)..

Anyhow.. net result is warrantys are always what they are advertise to be..

Sam;

I have mostly Craftsman tools and get by well with them, but the clicker style torque wrench isn't covered by a warranty. Mine just fell apart. I was able to put it back together but they said that they can't even calibrate it for me so it's hanging on the wall collecting dust. Anyone know where I can get it calibrated.

thanks Steve

I priced out having one recalibrated, but decided that for $50 I could buy 4 or 5 new wrenches from Harbor Freight and be just as close.(+/-3%)

I also have all craftsman screwdrivers, pliers and wrenches, sockets and socket handles. everything else is import

I have a friend who works on planes. They calibrate his at the airport, so he got mine calibrated when he borrowed them (his toolbox had been broken into). I haven't priced calibration, but I would agree, it would be cheaper fo get a HF for that instance. I priced the tool for calibration, $1000.00 +, OUCH!

Red face

Sam and Ranger;

I kind of thought it would cost more than it was worth. I went out and bought a new Husky a while ago and like it much better anyway. Me, being the cheap soal i am just can't stand to thow it away. Just for the fun of it I set a nut on a 3/4 inch bolt with my new one and messed around with the craftsman and got to read the same, but I can't trust it so there it hangs.

Thanks again guys, Steve
