Somewhere I recall reading that the "Galaxy" style caps were the ones found on 66 CC trucks. But in general, I know little about the larger hubcaps that attach to the "outie style" rims. If there are different type of outie hubcaps that came stock from factory, I was not aware of it. Sorry to have confused anyone.
The innie caps come in two sizes -- one smaller, that fits on 5 lug rims, one larger that was for 8 bolt rims of F250 ilk. They were painted differetly, depending on year and style of truck, and also can be had in Stainless (maybe chrome?). Innie caps most certainly will not attach to any rim that was not made for them.
CD, I think you may still be confused. The larger disks are called wheel covers. The smaller, hub caps, and also referred to a dog dish.
Let's stick with 15" wheels and hub caps. Hub caps fit an area just out of the wheel lug area. Some of the earlier hub caps fit inside of this ridge and are called innies, 65 or 6 I think Ford changed to outies that covered that ridge.
Innies and Outies are both hub caps, and can not be inner changed.
Hub caps = wheel covers where I came from. I hear what you are saying. AFAIK, there were only one kind of "outie" hubcaps used on 61-66 Ford trucks and those were used on CC Trucks in 1966. I was under the impression that those "outie" style hubcaps or wheel covers were also similar to those used on a Galaxy, but I may very well be wrong there. I do not think that ANY "bottle cap" or "dog dish" hub caps, whatever one calls them, will fit onto an outie rim.
Whatever -- the original poster apparently has the small hubcaps, and wants rims for them. Those need to be "innie" rims. If he needs a pic, I posted my link to a couple nice pics on my website.
Ok I have a question for you all.
My 65 originaly had split rims. Are you guys are reffering to splits or were there non split rims available back than?
I still have the split rims but refuse to run them. I will probably end up running a set of baby moon 15", I like that look.
I have three of the four hub caps I think my youngest sister took one of the hub caps for an ash tray and I have never seen it again.
