Hello,I have a problem with my 3.0 SOHC 98 Taurus that I need help with. First off,I have read many of the postings here to try and figure out my problem but haven't had any luck so thats why I'm posting a new topic because I have already bought and installed a new IAC control valve + cleaned the MAF sensor and what junk I could wipe out of the throttle body, which I thought would solve my problem(after reading the 7 page topic on that subject) I dilligently followed the directions to do this too i.e. neg cable off 30 min etc.
So my problem is that my motor feels like it is idling rather rough with a feel like it is missing felt in the steering wheel plus at low engine speeds you can feel it. Not just a little miss but a shaking kind off stumble miss. Also it doesn'tseem to affect wide open performance or any time you are moving along at more than say 30mph.I have had this vehicle since it was new but this has been going on for the last year or so.The check engine light has never come on so I don't think a stop at AUTOZONE for a code check is even needed. Where is it possible to get the real time anaylisis to check for dead injectors and what not? Dealers and robber repair shops? Some help would be most appreciated as my 17 year old daughter is starting to use this car to get to school .Thanks in advance for all your help.Alan
The plugs have been changed every 20K since new. That means this set has 10K on them .OIL (mobile 1 every 3 K+filter) air filter once a year(which is only about 10K of use now) fuel filter 1 year ago( same 10K ).
That being said I have been using Bosch Platinums and have recently read a post that Ford motors don't like them too much and after a year or so start missing which would be about the right time frame. I used Bosch Platinums in my 79 F150 and they really ran well with never any problems but just in case there is something to it,I'm going to change them with Motorcrafts today and let you know if it helped any.
