I need to ask for your help. The trajedy on the gulf coast is devestating and there are thousands of people right now in need of help. Imagine sitting in a strange new place with no job, no transportation, no money, no food, no home. We can save the argument about the government failing them for another day, today lets make sure they know the american public will not fail them!!! Do whatever you can for these people, whether it is giving to the red cross, volenteering to help, or just saying a prayer for them as you sit down for dinner tonight. I have been in some pretty bad situations in my life and I can't even begin to fathom what it is they are going thru. I was always able to pull my self up by the boot straps, they don't even have the resources to do that. Wichita is prepared to take in about 500 people at the convention center, the wife, kids, and myself will be there helping serve meals, hand out toys to the kids, etc. The affect of doing something so simple will last forever in these people and make a world of difference.

i hope this dosn't come across as a sales pitch, it is not meant to be. i just want to rally the troops to help those in need !!!!!

Great post Duane and you are exactly right.

I have talked to Ray who is down there right now trying to do what he can to help. I was told that the things we see on TV do not even come close to the amount of devastation that is actually there. One thing he noted was that there is water, food and clothing coming in from everywhere for the people in need. He did note though that most down there lost everything including the little things we all take for granted. Things like ordinary household items and utensils the type of things that we use everyday to make our meals or to eat and clean. These things are indeed needed to go along with the rest of the things pouring into the area. Local churches are connected throughout the country and are a wonderful place to drop off any donations you may feel like giving. They can ensure things get where they are needed as well as save you trying to figure out how and where to help at.

Good point man, looks like Wichita will not be hosting any visitors, guess they got them settled a little closer to home witch is great.

My 7 yr old boy came up the stairs last night after watching the news with us, he had a box full of some of his favorite toys and said he wanted to give them to the kids that lost thiers, I could not have been more proud than at that moment!!

For the most part they are good kids with there normal problems but so far they have not gotten into any real trouble with drinking smoking or anything else so I can't complain. The rest of them dug out a bunch of old clothes they don't wear anymore and we are all going to Love box company tonight to get a box and send it to the red cross. I know it sounds corny but they are my motivation for everything anymore, after all they have been thru and turn out the way they did makes me a very proud father.
