I had a 7.3 pass me the other day with a straight pipe and there is one sentence for it, but I would get censored. Don't want that, but man it sounded sweet. WE were cruising about 70. He passed me at about 85.
I want to do this to mine, but since the exhaust is stainless, is there anywhere that you can just order the pipe. I don't want to go to the local muffler shop and have them put one of those cheap aluminum coated thinwalled pipes on it.
Check with the company that ya got it from, most places that I have seen offer a muffler delete pipe.
I have to take my truck in for a 100,000 mile {160,000km} service within the next week or two, right after that the next stop will be Minute Muffler to replace the muffler with a piece of straight pipe.

About how much more noise are we talkin' here? Enough to attract undue attention from the po-po? And how about when it comes time for inspection? Do youreplace the muffler to get the sticker. Keep in mine I'm from Mass with all our stupid laws.
My plan is to cut the muffler off, clean it out, run the straight pipe through it and put it back. An inspector looking underneath will see the muffler. The inspectors in WV cannot flunk a vehicle on noise, but for missing parts. Only the Police can raise cain about noise.
Wow! I replaced about 7' of Cat, Muffler & pipe with a straight 7' piece of pipe today, with all four windows up you would never notice any real difference inside, so my wife won't be complaining. But on the way home from the muffler shop I opened both right hand windows to see if I could hear any difference in the "music" yup it sounds good to me!
Looking forward to what difference I might see on my next fuel up, milage wise.

OH <CENSORED SMILE A WITH>(Censored by writer)! talked me right into it.
Going to muffler shop in the morning and that danged muffler is going into the trash bin. I have been a good boy this week and have not ticked the lady off. Guess I need to do something or she will think I am sick.
