How do you change the upper intake plenum?
I have a 1990 Ford Bronco XLT with a 5.0L. The engine idles at 1800 RPMs when in park or nuetral all the time and at 1200 RPMs in gear. I have replaced the IAC, TPS, O2 sensor, MAP sensor, and cleaned the throttle body and it didn't make a difference. I was told by a mechanic he is 95% sure there is a vaccum leak at the upper intake plenum and to replace it. One question, how? How do I go about doing this? I bought a upper intake plenum gasket set and it came with 3 gaskets and an o-ring. Can somebody help me?

disconnect all of the wiring to the upper unit. Remove the plate in the middle of the upper. remove 6 bolts, Lift & Separate, clean carefully( you might wish to clean the throttle plates at this time. if you do, use a throttle plate cleaner, NOT carb cleaner)Install the plenum chamber gasket wiht a THIN coat of coppercoat, torque to spec & drive
