Highboy C6 Question??
Hey Guys,I have mounted my 460 and C6 into my 1977 Highboy chassis using L&L motormounts. I am using a C6 with a long 14" tailshaft that came out of my 76 F250 2wd, which originally came out of a 77 Thunderbird. I have shortened my driveshaft down to about 11" where it will fit ok going back to the NP 205 but, it seems to be at somewhat to much of a downward angle.
The transmission bracket that I am using is one that was in my 2wd which mounts to the tailshaft with 2 bolts and mounts to the crossmember with the one bolt sliding in longways with the truck. It looks like if I had a mount that was about an inch thinner it would put the driveshaft at a much better angle but I haven't checked at the transmission shop or autoparts to see if one is available.
It also looks like another option would be to try to mount the crossmember in under the mounting ears inside the frame rails instead of on top where it was and just put some steel spacers in to get it at
the same height as the rolled edges on the crossmember. I know that many of you have used the longer car C6 in the Highboy so my question is how did you deal with this situation.
Any helpful input will be appreciated.came out of a 2wd drive ford truck also and never had a problem
at all, i used the normal trans mount and crossmember. i could
measure my little drive shaft and see if it's longer that 11".
we've lowered a transfer case in a highboy before, that had
a automatic trans in it. and it worked fine also. that transmission
out of the thunderbird, should be fine. good luck

Thanks for the encouragement. Does your short driveshaft go down at somewhat of an angle? I just figured with that short of a shaft that it needed to be pretty much straight.
Another question if you don't mind. Do you still have the otherlarger crossmember that runs underneath the middle of the C6 still installed in your truck?
Thanks for your help.
