the tailshaft has a crack by the right mounting bolt to the crossmember. it leaks fluid also, but since i installed a b&m shift kit on its easy setting, the crack grows. whats in the tailshaft? can it be replaced by itself? how much will it cost me? this is on a 84 f-250 2wd w/ a 351W
You should be able to pull the tail shaft and replace it, you'll need a new gasket and a couple of quarts of tranny fluid...
Why is it cracked, do you have broken motor mounts or mis-alignment somewhere? I've never seen one crack before. Deen
when the engine is reved in park the drivers side of the engine moves up about 1/2 inch but i have a crack on the tailshaft on the passenger's side. how can this be? what is the max movement up or down an engine can go?
