91 exploder with broken front shock mount

Removd the front shock on Pass side and lower stud broke off. Are these pressed in? Can I just pound the crap out of it to get the broken part out and where do I get a new One? Ford? Aftermarket?

Thanks.

The same thihg happened to me on my '01 E-350 van. The stud is pressed into the radius arm on my vehicle and you have to get creative or replace the radius arm. I was lucky enough to have a proper sized aircraft grade bolt in my hardware can that I used after drilling out the old stud. Good luck.

Oh well, all else is going well so far, so it got me with a shock mount stud. I'll talk dirty to it later and see if it relents and fixes itself.

Meanwhile, anybody know if the lower arm is the same on a 94? I have two of them in my yard for parts and they are both in good shape.

Lower arm? What are you referring to. These trucks have twin I-beam suspensions not A-arms.

We broke the lower shock mount on out '92 X many year ago. I took it with me to Desert Rat and had them weld it back on.. Its been on for well over 100k miles and is holding up just fine (and I haven't exactly been nice to the suspension).

Both sides broke on my 94...I just drilled them out and bolted the shock back on with a 5/8 grade 8 bolt.

Well, if that's the case, my Ranger hasn't harbored any kind of familial vengeance over my calling Exploders....Exploders!

(Take it easy...there are worse goings-on out there these days!)
