Here's the issue: 2002, F350 SRW, 7.3L. Had 275 75R16 until earlier this week. After a lot of reading on this fine site, and problems getting in and out of hunting areas, put on BFG AT KO 285 75R16.
I hunt (therefore drive in SC red clay) 3 times a week, I tow horses (trailer weighs about 5k), and use the truck to move hay frequently.
Previously, the speedometer was 5.5 mph fast (therefore racking up the miles too fast as well). Now, I think it is closer to correct, but I would like it to know it is correct.
I know about the Superchips TrueSpeed (I think that's the name). But it's a little pricey considering it only does the speedometer. I've talked to every dealer within an hour and NONE will recalibrate the speedometer.
Will the Diablo Predator recalibrate my speedometer?
I've heard that Super Lifts has speedometer calibration kits, you could always try going to an offroad vehicle parts store, they all normally carry this kind of stuff, if you have a 4WheelParts in your area I would suggest them, they have pretty good prices.
Tuners cannot calibrate the speedometer on the 7.3L, including the Predator. If you look on the 7.3L Predator page you'll see that it does not say a thing about the speedometer, you may have been looking at a tuner for a different vehicle:
Now I'm confused. Here is what I sent/received from Diablo support. How would you interpret this?
QUESTION: [I have a 2002 F350 (single rear wheel) w/ 7.3L engine. I'm considering your Predator product. Does it recalibrate the speedometer to account for different size tires from stock?]
The Predator for this vehicle will allow you to change the tire size as this function is not controlled by the PCM in this vehicle.
Thank you for your interest in DiabloSport!
OK. Thanks for the help. I may get one anyways to help with fuel mileage. If the prices stay this high for long, I will recover the cost of the unit pretty fast.
