Jumper two connectors in this diagram, turn the key to "on" but do not start the truck, and count blinks from your check engine light:

I tried the method with the test light but I didnt get any light does the engine have to be running. I tried it with the key off and on. When I went to the part store his scanner kept saying to hook up DTC maybe that why my truck runns like it does. i am going to try jumping it the way Frederic said and see what happens
