I read in someones message that the check engine light is used to read the engine diagnostics by the number of times it flashes. There are supposed to be codes related to the flashes, does anyone have a list or know where to find these lists of codes. Also how do you check for the codes?
[link:www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html|http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html] has the test procedure and a list of codes. Most any good manual (Haynes or Chiltons) will also have the test procedure and list of codes.
You also need an analog multitester. One that has the needle that swings to left and right. You can also buy a test tool that will output the codes and meanings. They are about $20 at auto part stores.
Save yourself the money! Go to Autozone and they will hook up a diagnostic machine to your ECU for free and tell you what's up!I did that yesterday in fact. It turned out to be the Oxygen sensor, I replaced it and all is well.
