Is it possible to swap seats from driver to passenger side and vice-versa? My drivers seat is fairly well shot and short of buying a new seat or having the old one redone, I was wondering if I could swap seats. Being the Aerostar has the belts mounted to the floor, I didn't think this would be a problem.
Anyone ever had a car seat reupholstered by a shop?
I had the drivers seat reupholstered about a year and a half ago. Mine is a 90. The shop said that the insert material was not available anymore from Ford and that all the remaining supplies were in the hands of upholstry clearing house. And they wanted $100.00 A yard for it. I fond some couch material that was a close match and used it, At $8.00 a yard. The shop still cost me $275 to do the job.

The arm rest would be the biggest problem I think. If you have the lumbar support, the switch would be on the wrong side but you may be able to live with that.
I did swap the front driver seat with the rear one in my old 91. No more lumbar support but everything else worked.
The fabric is worn, but not torn. The cushion is shot. What about aftermarket van seats or aftermarket seats period? Also, will any other seats from the Ford parts bin fit ( Ranger, Explorer, etc.)

Thanks to all that have replied so far.
With a little modification, you could probably screw on the frame rails to some nice Explorer EB seats. Then put those up front and enjoy the leather.
