Smile Should I downsize? 250 to 150????HELP

Hey everyone!
Well this "family plan" pricing got me looking at new vehicles.
I currently have an 01 4x4 crew powerstroke with 95k. I looked at the local dealer and they have 150 crew 4x4 XLT's for $26500 pretty well equipped, The only kicker is the $16500 trade in they offered. (it kinda seems LOW)!!!
Anyway... I love my truck, but ya know how "the grass is always greener"but I would miss my "smoker"...

WELL GIVE IT TO ME...Push me back off the fence

you couldn't get me to trade my 7.3 for anything... not with only 94k on it... this is the BEST truck i have EVER owned... the grass may be a little greener looking, but that's how they WANT it too look... call me a conspiracy theorist, but i think a LARGE part of the reason why they stoped putting 7.3's in our psd is because they last so long... tough to sell someone a new truck when the one they have is still kickin' butt..!

So you'll be out an extra 10 grand and have a vehicle with less room, much less power, and roughly the same milage. I don't see how downsizing helps you any.

I'd walk before I had to drive something less than a 250 PSD! I bet there is a ton of guys on here who would be more than happry to steal your PSD for $16k. 94k miles is nothing..just getting broke in. I'm driving an 02 with 116k and couldn't be happerier!

Yeah I can see why they only want to give you 16k for your truck. That way they can turn it around for about 26K. I say go ahead and down size you already have in the dog department,,, Just kidding. If you do you'll be so pissed at your self within the first week you'll be down there trying to by your PSD truck back from them at $26000. That's a nice looking truck you all got there and great looking exhaust, Does it blacken your rear wheels though? When I bouht mine private party for $25 in 2000 I called the locall dealer to ask if he thought it was a good price and he said go ahead and buy it bring it to him and he'd give me $28k for it. He said they make more off a used one than new. Said he could get 32 for mine. Course that was 5 years ago.

I've had exactly the same thoughts! I was looking at a 2005 F150 XLT crewcab 4X4 for 27k! it's a terrible time to trader anything let alone a diesel! With the GM,Diamler-Chrysler,Ford pricing plans used vehicles are a plenty! sure!!! 16.5k for yours then they put it on the lot for 26-28k and act like there are giving it away to the next buyer. Bottom line...you'll be miserable if you give up the "growl"! Hang tough..your among friends, we'll p*ss and moan through this together!

The sad truth is that it is probably all you'll ever get for your truck anymore.

The Employee pricing that the big 3 are involved in have really devalued any and all trades, regardless of miles, year, or condition.

Because of the program, dealership lots are FLOODED with cheap trades, trades just like yours.

I too got the "bug" for a bit, I was thinking much like you, till I realized how much I'd be getting shafted.

My father in law is a dealer in NC. He says that the SUV market has crashed but the truck market is going up every day at the auctions. Your '01 is probably worth 26-28K, but a new one just like it even with the Employee discount is still over 40K. Every time I look at mine and think about a new truck, I think....why??? My truck is just as good as a new one, just getting broken in, half the price and mine is over value dump! I WILL NEVER DRIVE ANYTHING BUT A DIESEL TRUCK AGAIN.

Keep your truck....you'll be happy, your significant other will be happy, your dog will be happy, we'll all just sit here and be happy together!

this is too true... i bought mine at a dealership where i was working, then the sales really droped off on the 04's with the 6.0 in them and guys were coming in looking for used 02's and 03's with the 7.3.... long story short, the stealership tried to buy my 7.3 back from me twice in six months...! moral of the story: HOLD ON TO THAT MULE..!
