Can't Find A Hood

Hey...I need some help. I've been looking for months for a good non-dented, mostly rust free hood for my 67. All the bone yards I know to go to around here have one or two but they are all smashed in some way. I've tried the classifieds here for a while and still no luck. eBay has also produced no results. Over the past month or so 3 hoods have been sold and they were clear across the country. So, does anyone know where I can pick up an ok hood for a good price without having to drive too far? I live in Central Virginia. I'm not trying to make a classified ad here but please point me in the right direction. So I think what I'm asking is where do you like to pick for parts? Thanks.

If you have the badges off your original hood, why not just put those on a later hood? IIRC, the only major difference between a 67 hood and 68-72 was the badges.

Yep...I that is what I'd like to do...I thought I had one a few months ago, but when I got there the guy was mistaken about the year. Turns out his hood was off of a 73 which won't fit. Bummer.

VWF, Look in back yards around barns etc. when you are driving through areas. Sometimes you have to get creative.

Also look for hoods from 67-72 "big trucks" F-500 and up.

Drive too far is teh kicker. When I visit www.pullapart.com they usually have 68-72 hoods in perfect shape laying against the truck. Almost grabbed one that was no rust and perfectly primed and ready for paint. Just did not have the cash on me at the time.

One way I was able to get a decent hood for my 71 F350 was to buy a complete 71 F100 Ranger truck for $400. It was the same red colour as the F350 and there are alot of other good parts. The 67/72 Ford trucks are getting hard to find around here and if one is to be found then it is picked over or else very rough.

Click on the price list, same price for every vehicle, think they are $40 or so. You can buy DRW Dana 70/80 rear ends for $125 complete drum to drum. I keep hoping for a front Dana 60, but, 4x4s are rare in GA.

There was even a IH 4x4 with the big ball front axle.

Check mtsalvage.com, he is in South Carolina or try Flashback100 in North Carolina, both deal in these kind of trucks.

Found one near Martinsville for my son's 69 F-100. I think there is another in a yard near Chatham, Butch Eaton is his name. If you want, I'll check when I get back down there later this month. If I can afford the trip....
