I know most of you guys rebuild 460's, but im looking for a new crate 460 (if that is they still make them, im not completely sure), im looking for a one to last me a good long while so thats why im looking for a new one. Does anyone have a ballpark figure of what these cost?
Check with Jasper Engines: http://www.jasperengines.com/ . I've had two vehicles that had these remanufactured engines (both a long time ago) and I got really good service out of them.
Jasper makes the 351's and 400's too dont they? Someone told me they werent any good, but alot of people hate and like different things so I dont know. If I could get a 351 that would be more to my liking, not for performance but Id get a few more miles to the gallon, and every little bit helps these days.
I think ford still makes them as performance crate engines, but im pretty sure thats very pricey.
your right you can still get a performance crate engine from ford they are as follows
M-6007-G460= $5795 500hp 466cid
M-6007-F460= $5895 550hp 466cid
M-6007-D514= $7595 612hp 514cid
you can also get the 351w cheapest of them is
M-6007-S58= 2895
these are the prices as listed in the FRPP catalog and I am sure you can get them a little cheaper from a dealer (PM me if you want the name and number of atleast one but I won't advertise on here)
All of hte 460 variants are alum headed version, but I believe that the 460 replacement engines are still available from Ford, just call your local ford dealer, and find out.
Whoah those prices are outrageous, im just looking for one of the replacement engines. Someone told me that they dont make replacement 351's and 400's anymore? is that true?
if your talking about the 351M/400 engines no they don't I do believe that you can get the 5.8L (351w) still but you would have to check to be sure, although the bottom engine I listed is probably pretty close to what that will be with the exception that the one from FRPP will be complete including oilpan, and intake.
