Question Codes

Hey all got my baby running finally and when I'm going up hills or turning I go like 5 mph with my foot to the floor worried that cars are going to crash into me but yeah I pulled some codes out of her and I came up with P1351,P1359 and P1405 these codes are coming from a actron pocket scanner but the 2 codes I know are for ignition I'm guessing it's aiming at the timimng needs to be set then the other says something in the emissions but all connections are together and yeah kinda stuck in a rut tommarow I'm going to regap the plugs to 40-45degrees and then time my truck to 10 degrees TDC the only mods on my engine are K&N FIPK2 and thats about it so if anyone has other words of advice please tell me

P>S The distributor purge wire is that the group of 4 wires in the front of the dizzycause those are the only wires I can find externally of my Dizzy thank you

Not exactly sure what your talking about here???? It would also help quite a bit if you posted what year/engine you have.

First....purge wires??? If your talking about the SPOUT connector that must be removed to set the timing.....it is located in the area of the fire wall on the left side of the truck....right next to the ECU test port (thats how it is on my OBD 1 1993 302), On some Broncos it is in the area of the dizzy....it looks like a normal connector but instead of two sets of wires coming together....the connector just has a gray plug sticking in it.

As for re-gaping the plugs.....the measurement is not in degrees.....its hundreds of a inch......and on my 93 I think the book calls for a gap of .55

The timing should be set at 10* BTDC (before top dead center) on cylinder #1....the SPOUT connector MUST Be removed first though and the truck should be at operating temp when setting the timing.

I think the very best piece of advice I could give you is to get your hands on a Ford factory repair CD and or a Haynes/Clymer manual.

on timing, try 12 btdc. Spout removed. Also gap new motorcraft copper plugs to .055. And check wires, cap, rotor. make sure wires arent routed around base of distributor.
