Unhappy 91 f150 truck has no power want move

changed ignition module truck started great went for a ride everything good.
truck is low on antifreeze topped it up. thik i needd a new thermastat truck started to over heat and started to loose power pulled it over let sit for couple hours stated it again it will move but has no power . what do i check have no idea completely lost. checked oil no extra fluids in it..

How's the timing, it has to be reset after changing the ignition module on a 302. Bad timing might explain the overheating and no power. Maybe the dist is loose and moved, changing the timing? ...Terry '90 F150, 302

thanks i will check if distributor moved when i get truck back home have to get it towed. im not a mechanic and i have no idea on how to check timing

There are two ways of setting the timing. Use a timing light (the right way), or set it until it idles alright, and test drive it. Keep advancing the timing, a bit at a time until it starts pinging when engine is under load and then retard it a tiny bit (this is the redneck way). Timing light is the best way. ...Terry

my rpm has dropped as well it dropped done to around 500 rpmor alittle lower it usually runs around 8-900 rpm
im thinking maybe when i put distibutor back i didn t tighten down the hold down bolt

still waiting for my tow to check it out

8-900 is a little high for idle isnt it? My 95 5.8 auto idles at 500-550. Not sure what a manual idles at though...

my distributor was loose so i tried to reposition almost in right place but still lacking power when i reach 60 to 70 km truck seems to bogged down has power but just want go maybe timming still isn t right.

i think mt problem is still the timing so im going to get soeone with a timming light to try and fine tune it. still have to change the thermostat because of the over heating
