Unless you plan on going to Flagstaff in the winter...Or even up on Mt. Lemon on an unsually cold Tucson day...

I've been using Howe's Lubricator only in winter for gelling. Has worked well...no gelling. As I just got this '05 PSD, none for it yet. Had a '92 7.3 I've used it in.

How much Power Service do you use? I use 16oz per 40 gallons.

I use PS also every fill up. I probably use too much, but what the heck. I love this truck so I really watch the fluids & do what I can to keep it running like new. Does not use a drop of oil between changes, and my mpg seem up about 1/2mile/gallon w/PS. I just consider that a beneficial side effect!

Skeptical at first but since I got a batch of Critters in my tank and had to treat them have been using the Powerservice gray bottle. I have about a .7mpg increase since I started using it and its consistent, stop using it and the mileage goes down. I figure this will pay for itself when you figure in the extra lubrication properties.

That will only increase your cetane rating by 3 points. To increase by 6 points (which I recommend) you would add 0.64 oz/gal or 6.4 oz / 10 gal.

Keep in mind that the average cetane rating, at the pumps, in the US is 43. Rumor has it that the Ford version of the 6.0 is designed for fuels with a 46+ cetane rating. Why take a chance that you are buying 41 cetane?

Please note the following from the grey bottle I buy as well as the Power Service web site:

Actually, Power Service is a little addicting for the less engine noise while cruising and less exhaust smell while idling. I use a whole 32oz bottle for my 40 gallon fill up towing, but I usually use 16oz around town.

I'm also hoping I avoid EGR clog-up using the stuff.

It will certainly help...along with a CI-4+ rated oil.

I guess I'm lucky! The station where I fuel has designated one of thier tanks to be premium diesel. I asked them what made it premium and they showed me that it is the same diesel as their other pumps with the onsite addition of valvetech(spelling?) additive. The advertised cetane rating is 50 and the engine runs much quieter than before. I have not noticed an improvement in milage. They charge 4 cents per gallon more for the premium and I do not have to mess with adding it myself.
