no more wheel weights?

Has anyone heard much about these things? I was just checking out www.innovativebalancing.com I don't quite understand how a million little beads in your wheels will balance your tires. Won't they all just go to the heaviest spot?

I went to the sight you indicated, and I, too, would like to find out more. They don't seem to give a thorough enough explanation. I understand the principal of centrifugal force and that it would probably distribute the little 'beads' inside the tire, but they don't go into enough details.

I dont buy it, theres no way a ton of little beads are gonna know how to balance a tire out. I prefer time tested and PROVEN technology, even if it is ancient.

Follow the link on the first post. After you do it, let us know if it works. I still think that it would be counter-effective. Centrifigal force seems to tell me that heavy object will move to the outside of a circle. I'd love to hear some feedback.

I just ordered some...

Well, I cost a little over $30, but my curiousity was peaked enough to try it. I'll let you all know when I get it in and drive it a bit..

This works!
Long story, but new tires balanced three times and still not right, after a quick 10,000 miles I saw this post and gave them a try. Runs as smooth as a ribbon now.

Must I go to the tire shop?

Or can I simply pry off the wheel weights and pour these in through the valve stem?

You can put them in the valve stem, takes a few mins , be paitent. You need to order their install kit and the valve cores. I left my weights on for a test run and all is well, they do recommend you take them off, I will when I get time. Only complaint I have is their shipping is a little high, If you want quick delivery.

Thanks for the reply Dave 257. That's what I was hoping to hear.

Here's another question, if you would: My tires are near the end of their lives. Are these things re-usable?

They sound like a better way to balance tires, either way, but if they are re-usable then I don't have to wait to buy them.

thanks, again.

Once they start rolling around inside the tire, I don't see how you could gather them up to put into another tire. If you buy new tires they can put them in when they are mounted. Thats the way I would go. I only have about a 100 miles on them, so I don't know how they will hold up, but will add posts if I run into any problems.
Dave

On edit: Had a place to run it up to 85, smooth as silk.

Could they not be taken out as the old tire is removed from the rim?

It'd be great to get this installed now and not have to wait for the new tires.

Either way, this sounds great!

Thanks,

matis
