Yup every time we went to our grandparents house for dinner(every weekend) we always ate at the table, the news would turn off and we would sit and eat.
It's just Mrs flip and I and we eat... in bed.... Yep... that is where the only TV is, We sit up have some quickly nuked food and eat in bed... watching about 1 hour of TV--- then we get up and do whatever, and watch another 1/2 hour before bed..... (normally with popcorn) Unless we have company, then we eat in the dining room. We have these little trays, so we don't get crumbs all over... I know it is weird, but it is what we evloved into doing ....
I try to get down to my dad's house and cook dinner for him twice a week when possible. He is 78 and moving a little slow now. We always eat at the table in the dining room, but the table is also his "office", so it is piled with mail, newspapers, etc.
The reason California seems "wierd" to tourists, is because they see only LA or SF or at least never leave the interstates. You have to get out and explore. When I have traveled back east, the difference is huge, like it is here. Philadelphia and rural Penn. are night and day. The same is true for DC vs rural Virginia, etc.
My family always does when we're home together which during the summer is rarely but from september to June every night we eat together. I plan on raising my kids this way. I think it's better for everyone.
Nope.Hardly ever do we,even on Christmas ect we don't.Of course we are never really together at dinner time.If we wait on dad to get home..well thats most of the time really hard to do without snacking to much.I'm used to it though, even when my brother and his wife come over we don't sit at the table.Havn't really sat down together in a very long time lol
I wish, but then again I dont. My family always did, everynight. I believe its a very strong time for family to keep the ties strong.
Currently, with all my wifes fam damily in the house (six of em).... the norm has changed. They have never eaten at the table together. It shows in the bond, and the table manners. Thank god my wife and I work nights, keeps me from seeing the pigs eat dinner.
So glad my wife isnt like the rest of em.
Running a special on in-laws........if anyones interested.
I sleep in the day time and work at night so by the time I wake up everyone has already eaten. I usually eat dinner here at my desk while checking out Fte, talking to my wife, smoking my first ciggarette of the day, and drinking my first cup of coffee. Yes all at the same time. Then I get my shower, get dressed, kiss my wife and off to work I go.
We live in a very small house. We have a kitchen table, but it has become a catch-all. We do eat at the table when we get time to clear it off, but normally it's kids eating in front of SpongeBob and the wife and I in front of the news or TLC.
Parents did just about every night, with the kids.
Me and the misses rarely do now - usually the dogs and horse get fed first (along with putting them out/walking, picking up their 'presents' and such) and I'm lucky to put down a PBJ before its (past) time for some sleep.
'Someday' we won't each be tied to jobs that require a lot of long days / evenings and be able to actually enjoy a dinner together. . .
Our family all sits down to dinner every night. 5 kids, the wife,my mother thats living with us and myself. The only problem is the 3 oldest kids want to talk through dinner about thier day and makes it hard to get 2 younger ones to eat. I am old school dinner time is sit eat or go hungry. Thanksgiving and Christmas theres quite a few more people added. My wifes parents and her 2 sisters, my sister and husband and 2 kids adding 1 one this year niece just had a kid.
