her parents know about Texas manners. they've been down here plenty. i was raised propper and will be on my best behavior when with them. her mom already likes me. i ask about her dad and she says "i dunno, he's a grumpy old man, all her ever does is watch Fox news and grunt" but he knows i got her into shootin more, so we'll see....she is daddy's girl, so its gonna be tough. as for her/my manners, when we're together, manners don't really exist, its great for an Oregon gal, she sure is a lil redneck girl. DT, go eat dinner, can't keep mama waitin

DT 466Man, it depends on where you go.

It's a big state. Not as big as Texas or Alaska, but big.

We have everything here and that's why we're at 33 million people and counting.

Yeh, I thinks it's nice, but so is the rest of the country.

I could spend a lifetime traveling in the U.S. , and not see the same place twice.

Some parts are, but for me it's just weird; I don't know how else to explain it. It's VERY different from my neck of the woods, that's what I mean by "weird." I didn't mean it in a derogatory way. CA is about as far from the Northeast as you can get without falling in the ocean. Come to think of it..........

Since the ex left with my son I'm a one man family. I guess that means my family always eats together.

You must have visited the weird parts and forgot about the rest of the state.

Nope didn't keep momma waiting.

I think i'd like to visit cali once or twice, not to live their, the govt. is too controlling there.

I've heard from the girlfriend that the area that grows grapes, forgot what she called it, was very pretty. But the further south you went the wierder it got.

My wife and I rarely eat at the dinner table. Usually on the coffee table in front of the tv. But when we do eat at the dinner table, it usually leads to something else...

When at my in-law's, it's always at the dinner table. My family though, the table isn't big enough. My wife and I sit with my mom, my brother and his girlfriend eat in front of the tv, and my sister eats in her room. Don't know why. But when my dad was still here, we always ate together, unless I was working.

Yep! It's called Napa Valley in Sonoma County, just north of here.

You should check out Yosemite. One of the most beautiful places in the world, but way too crowded for me; especially in the summer.

Dress up as a park ranger, so you can abuse the ones that shouldn't be there.

We try to eat at the table when we go out... other than that, the kitchen table is relegated for old newspapaper, mail, and old dried out flower storage.

OK, we're back on track.

I like to eat by myself.

Kinda like that George Thoroughgood and the Dee-stroy-ers' lyric -

"You know when I drink (eat) alone,
I prefer to be by myself"

Track? I think we were just identifying some of the reasons fewer Cali families eat dinner together. But hey- I grew up in Southern Cal, and it's a whole different world. We tend to think of the northern part of the state as a bit odd. Head further north, and the Pacific Nwst is a different world. Of course, there's Portland, Seattle, and the rest of the Pacific Nwst.

Jeff- don't feel bad- I feel the same way when I travel to the Northeast.
