Master Cylinder?

'68 F250 4x4 with '73 d60 axles and drums all around.
My master cylinder is shot, but which spec should I use to replace it.
Seems that since the axles (and brake drums & wheel cylinders) are from a '73, that I should replace the master cylinder with a '73 spec?
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

You will probably find that the part number associated with a MC for a 68 4X4 and a 73 4X4 are the same... Just make sure you get one for a drum/drum setup.

Similar part numbers, yes...but not exact. According to Napa, the same MC was used on the '68 w/o power brakes and the '73 w/ power brakes. I have been running a booster, so that problem is solved.
Strange that the fluid leak is at the MC - either coming out from the cap or from the bolt on the bottom - both line connectors are "dry".

It's on the back burner for now, anyway - my clutched dropped out this afternoon. I've had a bad rear main seal leak for a while, which caused the clutch to chatter and wear. I knew it was only a matter of time.
Thanks for the help.

I have actually had the cap leak before, took it back and got a replacement...

My cap leaks too and I noticed the cap boots do not go into the fluid like they are suppose to and take up the empty space when the fluid level drops.

One from a 1971 F-350 with DISC brakes will work swell. I got mine with disc (even though I have drums all around) because I wanted extra braking to the front drums so the truck stopped better and straighter without locking the rear brakes as much. The booster/mstr cyl setup for the F-350 was much bigger then the F-100 (F-250?) stock size.

I thought that the 1ton+ trucks had a different pedal assembly?

Don't know if the 1-ton trucks have different pedal assemblies - isn't the F250 a 3/4-ton?
