Scratch that, the links didn't work. Check out tirerack.com for reviews on all the above mentioned tires.

I have Winston Winner LT's on my 4x4. 265/75R/16's. I would reccommend this size if you have the 4x4. It fills in the wheel-wells, and gives the truck a bigger look...not to mention more traction and a little more clearance if that matters to you.

These tires are great! Deep tread, excellent traction on and off-road, and great wear so far.

The 265's on my truck (02 4x4) look small, I would like to see pics of 285's on 17 inch rims on someones truck. Anyone?

Have BFG All Terrains KO on my FX4 now. Had Bridgestone Dueler Revo's on my older 98 F150. BFG is sweet, rugged looking. Rides fine. Duelers are bit cheaper but seems to ride bit better. Duelers have good rating over at tirerack.com. I would put in Duelers when it's time to replace the tires on mine, unless BFG lowers their price.

I've always been a fan of Michelin -because- of what their tires can do. I dunno about you, but I look to the most extreme types of racing or the auto-industry and see Michelins. Michelins were beyond superb for my superbike at the race track, great on a rice-burner I used to race around in, and I've even been impressed with nearly no-tread used Michelins. I need to research what happened to that race series though - what, were they were exploding a lot?

You really can't compare apples to oranges, or...wait....Cars to trucks. The tires are of different design. Cars need different setup than trucks. I have tried the Wranglers, but won't touch them just because the tread design isn't aggressive enough for me on the All terrains but they wear great. I have always bought the BFG's and have had great luck with them, although now I am running the PROCOMPS All terrains cause of a great deal.

I NEVER place any kind of faith in what the dealer sells you with the vehicle unless you specifically order a certain type. Dealerships and manufacturers get deals on tires due to buying alot of them. They will have the cheapest tire that they can get away with on the vehicles just so they can say.."OH LOOK! It has new tires!" SO WHAT! The last time I used tires that were "new" from a dealership, they only lasted 20K.

Its all a matter of driving habits and conditions. We all have our own opinions.

There...I have ranted therefore I am.

No, I reckon one can't compare mud tires to tarmac tires. I just believe that a company can be compared to another company. Some tire companies do a lot of research and development. Some only claim to. Heck, some don't even claim to.

The new tires from the factory thing: I agree - in fact, I believe the tires supplied to the american auto-makers and the dealerships, at times, have been cheaply made versions of what you and I would buy aftermarket with the same brand and name. But I've never had a vehicle anywhere near new enough to have on the original tires (just made observations from other owners, from when i was a mechanic, and from complaints I've heard/read).

I did put Pep Boys all-terrain tires (aggressive tread) on my old 1993 F-150 two years ago and liked them, and I've talked to others who liked them (for the price) as well (they replaced a Michelin off-brand set of tires that I loved). But for all my stupidly-way-too-high-of-speed stuff in trucks, cars and motorcycles I've trusted Michelins with my life, and they responded back in turn. I won't go into how I used these vehicles, but I -used- to always be the fastest person out there just to push the limits (when no-one else was near or in my turns, of course). (not braggin here - i do my stuff for me, on my own) Thankfully I can't yet get my long 1999 to do what those other vehicles did, and I now live in a boring and flat state (Florida), so the straight roads don't seem to require a high-performance tire like I used to have to buy.

I seem to have forgotten - BFG is Michelin, right?

BFG=Michelin??? You got me there. I still see them sold and advertised as seperate brands but I don't know if they are actually the same company. Ford=Mazda...something like that?

Yeah, I think they are the same company. Thus, in my tire world, BFG's are probably made well and to be trusted (but that's an obvious statement with the numbers of satisfied BFG customers out there. I can't say I've ever read of one internet review / poster who was unsatisfied with his BFG's.)

I have tried many different brands and wound up with the BFG's mainly cause of tread design and the number of ply's on the sidewall. Their price is not attractive though but they are great tires. The only reason I went with Pro Comps this time was cause of the deal. $670 installed...I wasn't going to pass that up.
