Is it hitting your wallet?
I just filled my truck and put $55.00 worth of gas in my truck. The gas in my area of CA is $2.89 a gallon and this is the 87 octane stuff. It's definitely made a dent in my wallet.

Just got the "Wee Beastie" back, so I'll see the next time I've to fill the Olde Girl up.
The '82 sport truck sucks up $40.00 to $50.00 @ every fill-up if I let her go that long, though I try & put Petrol into her when she hits a 1/2 tank.

I was just thinking about that last night. My F100 is currently in the shop waiting for the new tank to come in, plus I got all the other stuff for it (straps, sender, filter etc..) I'm running a 460 and am pondering how the gas is going to hit me when I get it back on the road. I filled up last night on the way home and stopped around Encino/Sherman Oaks... almost cost $40 to fill up on 87 for my Acura Integra! I'm not going broke over it, but it is a little rediculous to have to pay that much. I can only see it going up more around here.

Yes, the prices are out of sight...gotta get a second job to cover it! Luckily I ride my motorcycle most of the time to work; and even with a big 1600cc motor I still get 45 mpg. Pack the rain gear and hope it doesn't rain....Fox

Has anyone tried E-85, the corn based fuel, in their trucks? The last time I checked it was going for $1.85 a gallon. I have heard you lose upto 15% in mileage using it but here the gas is going around $2.80 a gallon for 87 octane, maybe it's time I try some. I don't know if I would run it in my '04 Dodge and I don't know how a hi-po set up would work but I would like to see how it runs in my stock '49 F-2.
Anyone have an opinion or knowledge about this stuff?

I think E-85 is mostly a midwest thing. Hopefully, they develope it more and it will spread across the country, if it's any good. It sure would be nice to keep some the money in this country instead of sending it to OPEC.

Wel from what I just finished reading.. its not for are trucks.. The truck/car has to be set up to run on this stuff.. Pricing sounds good.. But the closest place for me to buy it is in San Diego.. Thats just a little to far for me to go for cheap gas..

I quit looking at the pump, I just filler up. I instead look at all the Suv's and trucks that those people are paying hundreds of dollars for each month. Plus paying the high price for gas for them. And I think how lucky I'am to have my 51 paid off, and only have to pay for the gas.

I read an article which had predictions of Wal Street gurus regarding oil prices in 2009. One predicted topping $100 per barrel. That would roughly equate to $5.00 per gallon. I think I will keep my 2 barrel carburetor in place.

I've been kinda tired of 10 mpg for a while now. The dyno guy screwed up my carb when he messed with it. I bought a carb rebuild kit and plan to reset the carb to the stock settings as a starting point and dial it in from there.
Even though I only live 3 miles from work, the gas prices are pretty insulting especially when you look at the increase over just the past year. And did you see what the big oil company profits are doing? Hey, if crude oil prices have gone up and the big companies are just passing the cost on, how come their profits are up 35-51%?

The fuel situation now is just like it was back in the mid '70s, everyone got rid of their gas guzzling cars and bought crappy econo-boxes and you could pick up a full Oldsmobile or Buick for next to nothing, same as some are predicting for the SUV now. Then everyone got used to the fuel cost and look what we're all driving now. I see moms picking their kids up at school in four door one F-350 pickups and pimped out Humvies (IMO one of the ugliest vehicles ever produced). These beast cost in the range of $40-60 grand and get 10 mpg or less. At that price they will never be taken out in the boonies and driven off road, just sit in the garage and look impressive.
Oh well, as with our old trucks, it's their money and they can do with it what they want. I believe everyone will adjust and life will go on.
