I love the way the FFV vehicles are sold here in Arizona, especially the Phoenix area. Only one problem is that E-85 is only available in Tucson, 120 miles away and that is at a distributor. Really makes sense???
I bought my FFV Chrysler minivan while living in Hanford, CA (Don't buy a car from that Chrysler dealership by the way). Funny thing was, the nearest E-85 station was 2500 miles away.
Now I live in heaven, or Iowa to outsiders. There is an E-85 pump 2 miles from my house.
I get 16 mpg on E-85, which costs $1.99/gallon as of yesturday. I would get about 18-19 on gas ($2.49), so the savings is actually pennies per gallon, however, it is a statement, and supporting the local community.
I drive an 05 Chevy for work, and I mix E-85 and regular as much as I can. They say it will not harm the engine if it is a 50/50 mix, and my mileage stays around the 12mpg I usually get with it (8.1L big block with a 4:10 gearing).
This is a good discussion, but it needs to be taken to the General NON-Automotive Discussion Forum. I'll leave the thread here for a couple days so everybody that is participating can see this post, but I'm going to lock it the thread against any further posts.
