i1dery, your post got me to thinking that maybe I'm the only one that loves where I live? Up here in the northeast corner of Washington is paradise if you ask me. Just a few hours drive from Montana, less than an hour from BC...some of the best hunting and fishing anywhere in the country and too far out of the way for most people to even consider!
Kwob, I know its beautifull up there. My wifes family is from parts
around there, infact i wanted to get tranfered up there when i
worked for the railroad (Bonners Ferry). She also has an uncle that ownes a logging company up there. Thus the reason to retire
in the area prefer montana. Kettle falls was another place, is that where your at??
It's nice near Lake Pend Oreille Id. for sure.. when I was there though you couldn't hardly breathe from the smoke from forest fires, tho
and them Arian Nation crazies with guns don't bring it up to five stars, neither
..actually the crazies with guns applies to 50 of the states...
Think I am gonna stay put here in God's country where the prairie meets the Rockies.

i1dery, I'm in Ione which is about 50 miles slightly NE of Kettle Falls... It's a great area to live, and Pend Orielle County remains the last county in the state without a stoplight! Another great thing about the area is that we also have the largest big game population in the lower 48 states with grizzly and black bear, cougar, caribou, elk, deer, lynx, and wolverine.
Most people in the state, let alone people from outside of the state have never even heard of Pend Oreille County, they don't call us "The Forgotten Corner" for nothing! The only other place in the country I'd even consider would be western Montana, but I'm close enough to it that I spend a lot of time there as well.
Ringo Fonebone, those Aryan Nation crazies are mostly over in Idaho. I don't know when you visited, but last summer was a bad summer for fires and smoke.
Well there almost is'nt a place that californians have'nt found that everyone else has'nt found also. As long as i get my spot when i
need it, Montana is'nt called the big sky country fer nothin. And
really there's more poeple moving to caly than there are moving
out. and just think how they feel, darn other states moving here.
And gods country is where you hang yer hat and some cases
temporarly.
Isn't that the truth i1dery, and there really isn't anything that can be done about it. I wonder when it will happen up here, but I'm not too worried about it for the immediate future.
BTW, I grew up on a farm outside of Enumclaw, not all that far from Covington. When I left Enumclaw in the 70's to join the Army it was nothing like it is today. The farm is long gone...a housing development sits there now, no doubt with it's share of Californians
Funny I grew up on a farm in Northbend, Now a couple real nice
granolas live there. now of course im in covington, apple does'nt
fall far from the tree. If i was still with the railroad i'de be in
white fish or even troy but boeing came callin so i'll have to wait.
Everytime I'm unlucky enough to have to head over to Seattle I stop at Ken's...the truckstop there right off I90 just before North Bend. You must have worked on the BNSF, have a buddy that is an engineer on the BNSF out of Seattle.
Alaska flys their 737's into both of them.... and I'll tell you what, I have had my license for years, and there is something to be said of them pilots whippin a Boeing around like I do a Cessna..... Sitkas runway is built on a jetty, the wings are MUCH wider than the runway!!! definately a pucker experiance if your not aware of it!!
Dont forget Juneau. Have to take that hard turn as soon as you leave the runway or ouch mountain. Although the Ferry ride through BC and SW Alaska has some scenery that cant be beat.
Grass Valley - Neveda City CA if it wasnt so darn expensive to live there. Of course I do also miss PC FlA.
Yup kens truck town used to put in on the river there and tube to my house on the river in northbend just below mnt Si really.
Alaska never been there but i swear if i was a single man today
just might have to move there. Just like when B.C. becomes our
51st or 52nd state the northern interior is nice drove my truck up
there as far as prince george and vacationed at a lake called
punzy or punzle?? been a long time just a kid then.
Montana sucks. Tell your friends!!!! There is nothing here at all. The wages are low, the taxes are high. There are no jobs, there is no water. It's a desert out here. You have to drive 60+ miles to get anywhere no matter where you are. It's awful.
Now be a good buddy and tell all your friends that there's nothing here for them!!!!
Cody
Hmmmmmmmmm. I live in Maryland right now. The tax thing don't bother me. I think that I can get used to callin' Montana. . . . . Home. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Billings. Red Lodge. Bear Tooth Pass. Been there.
Gorgeous place!!!!!!!!! They don't call it "Big Sky" for nothin'!
Lets see if any of this peaks your interest:
NO TAXES
Housing is dirt cheap and all masonary
Electricity is cheap, cheap, cheap
Food prices are lower
Fuel costs are cheaper
If you are single, ladys of the evening make an honest living there
You can live like a king if you have $100,000 cash
Like it so far? Try south of the border in the mountains of Mexico. Don't speak spanish? That's alright as neither do the other several tens of thousands Americans that have moved there. It seems that it is the favorite spot for most retiring Texans. I understand that the Californians are taking over Baja as well. Probably not as cheap as everybody knows the Californians love to blow money.
