Ummm....is British Columbia a state? The Canukistan side of the San Juan Islands (the Penders would be perfect), or Lopez on the Washington side. I love mountains, I love ocean, and can't stand climate extremes (hot or cold)...so I'm pretty much stuck in the Pacific Nwst, just a question of where.
I'll stay here for now. But in about five years or so I figure my wife will be due for "the change." I'm thinking Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Even she wouldn't hunt me down up there.
polarbear, IF BC were a state, definitely either Pender Island North, Pender Island South, Galiano, Salt Spring.
Heck, any of the islands between Vancouver Island and BC.
I definitely liked Galiano. Laid back setting.
I know it's against the thread's original post, but California if 29,000,000 people left and went back home.
yeah the sunshine coast!! used to do a lot of campng there. could drive for hours with no traffic, see lots of wildlife, then get out of the car and stuff yourself on wild blackberries. too bad BC is getting to be as crowded as california cuz it's just about the only place in canada with mild winters. my dad wanted to retire to okanogan but there's just nothing left worth buying. all those nice campgrounds he would have liked to have one of all got bought up by developers.
Believe it or not.......Massachusetts. I've been going to Cape Cod most summers since 1980, and I fall in love with it even more every time I visit. Cost of living is INSANE, but since i!dery asked "if you could," I guess it doesn't matter. If the history of this country holds any importance in your life, and you've never been to Nantucket, well- you don't know what you're missing.
None of you apparently have been to Northern California.......Napa Valley, Bay Area, Sierra Mountians, Redwoods, Great Rivers, GREAT WEATHER....There are 3-4 different climates in Northern California.....if you do not like one....just drive 30 min or an hour to a different one.
East Coast is terrible......midwest is terrible too.
I was born in Missouri-lived there 16 years, lived in Colorado for a long time too. I have traveled all over the states. Except for Montana, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. I do not think I am missing much from those though.
I used to think that here in the Seattle area was the place to be, but not anymore. Too many people, most of them jerks, and a non people friendly govt.
I really enjoy the SW part of Alaska, Wrangell, Sitka, etc., so that is where
I envision myself migrating to.

If I remember, the only access to Sitka and Wrangell is either by ferry or small plane. How cool is that?
Somewhere in the dry south west. I hate the cold in NJ, which is not really that cold, but I want it to always be over 70. I love it in AZ and around there.
