Does anyone know where the GEM module that controls the 4 wheel drive system on a 1998 f150 is located. Suspect mine is bad and need to get part number for Fordpartsonline...My Mitchell on Demand diagram says it under drivers side dash but I am having trouble locating it Thanks for any help
Not really sure about the '98, but I think I am going to have to replace mine on the '97! Although my not is not locked into 4 wheel drive, my interior lights are staying on. And in this forum, that is one of the suggestions in the next step to try to eliminate this problem. Replacing parts-if that one does'nt fix it- onto the next! lol
There has been an issue with windshield gaskets leaking and allowing water to run behind the dash and soak the GEM. Make sure that your windshield is properly sealed before you replace a GEM, or you'll be back for another one before too long.
