4" lift ?'s

I was just wondering if I lift my 1977 f-150 4x4 would I have to have a pitman arm drop, and would I have to lengthen my drive lines?

Thanks
~ Bryce

Most cases, no you don't have to do anything with 4" lifts, it's 6" where you need to start doing more mods.

Do you have an early 77 (highboy) or a late year 77 (lowboy)?

It's an F150, Highboy/ Lowboy doesn't apply.

If you have a 77 F150 4x4 then you have neither a highboy or a lowboy! Those terms are in regards to the F250 4x4's of which there was a platform change in 77. The F250 4x4's have a leaf spring front suspension and the F150 4x4's use a coil spring front suspension.

Don't forget about longer flexible brake lines also.

So I'd have to have longer break lines?

It is possible to relocate the rear hose mount but I just went ahead an upgraded to a 5-inch longer stainless wrapped hose from JBG. The front length was OK on my 73 even at full droop.

Just my opinion as I have only lifted 2 150's, both 4".

Radius arm brackets 2-3"
C Bushings
Dropped pitman arm 3"
Lowered track bar bracket 3"
Deaver coils from JBG

If it still has the early tie rods, then changing to the 78-79 style is a huge upgrade.

No change to drift shaft lengths.

Definitely on the rear.
The first truck when I was 18, I just released the clip that holds the end of the steel line. Thus allowing the steel line to slide through the mount hole and hang down closer to the axle. Don't do it that way. It will wear through the line and leak. I'm a red neck, but that is just asking for more trouble. I don't think I did anything with the front.

My current truck I bought the stainless braided 4" longer hoses from Inline Tube. Works good and looks great.

I didn't see that it was an F-150. My bad, how embarrassing...
I should learn to read more closely

Which length did you buy? I am in the process of installing a 4" rough country lift...

Not to thread jack but I need some help with my 76 F-100 4wd lift...I got the C-bushing and coil springs installed and according to rough country I don't need to have a drop pitman arm... my question/problem is the drivers side tire looks pointed in...I assume that's from the larger/taller spring installation. Can the tie rod end be adjusted out to fix this or do I need a longer tie rod? Any help would be appreciated...

Probably there's enough there but you won't know for sure until you get it on an alignment rack ..
