Don't TRUE rednecks own a Chevy? I know people with too much money own Dodge trucks. Other people with Toyotas, Nissans and 'other' trucks really don't need pickups. Fords are the "working man's" truck But I guess a hardworking redneck can have a Ford.
I remember my senior year in high school i skipped school about 5 times to put lifts on my buddies trucks. You cant get any redneckier than that. Im from Illinois and the good ole bars and stars is my headliner in my 96 F350 Reg. Cab SRW with a powerstroke, 5 speed and 4.10s, along with the 30-06 and 12 guage crammed with 00 buck and the Super Star 121 hooked to the 10 foot whip and chrome DMI Drop hitch bumper taking up the rear and its all riding on a 35x14.50x16.5 swampers and you cant forget the Redneck sticker on the windshield. Ive never been to the south but i dont consider myself a yankee. Here in Illinois its different, were part of the South if you dont count Cook County. I wish Chicago would break off and sink into Lake Michigan.
Just thought I'd add a kinda funny redneck story. Last year when i still lived in florida me and my buddies took a bike trail along the river to do some fishing. Well, we came to a bridge and we climbed down to the sea wall and decided it would be fun to ride our bikes off into the water. The 3 foot drop wasnt that bad so we did it a few times. well one time my bike sank too deep and i couldn't find it. When i finally found it after about 15 minutes of searching, this boat comes by and says their's a gator around the bend. Then another boat comes from he other direction and tells me theirs a gator around the other bend. lol.............well the moral of the story is, just because u are in florida, far away from any fresh water, dont assume their arent any gators in it. Brackish water still likes to harvest it's fair share i suppose. Needless to say i treaded some water pulling that bike out.
Yes, I do fishing, but commercially. I use an electric reel with a computer on it, and catch bottom-fish in the Hawaiian Islands. Can't go much anymore, but as I'm interested in gadgets, I really enjoy watching that gizmo pull up fish from a thousand feet deep water. Damndest thing I ever seen. I don't think that's what you're asking though.
Man don't think that everyone up north is like those connecticut people. You are just too far east! Here in Michigan everyone has a jacked-up four-wheel drive and likes country and classic rock. Some people fish too but its more of a deer-hunting crowd. It may not be the south but it sounds like its a hell of a lot better than connecticut! Well good luck in finding some connecticut kids that understand what its all about.
Hey y'all, ya reckon my name tells ya anything about me bein a redneck or not? I live out here in the country and just started cuttin the grass in '97 when we got the Ranch King for real cheap. The dang thing had a plastic front end and it broke real quick in my yard. So, I swiped a metallic front end off an ancient mower that had been involved in a fire and MADE it fit my Ranch King! Ain't nothin zip strips and bailin wire couldn't handle.
One of my trucks has dixie flags on the back window, homemade (the redneck way) dixie mudflaps, and of course, a dixie horn. The other truck, well, it don't need any help, it's a redneck truck to start! Here's what that beast looks like.

So, yeah, I'm a redneck and proud of it, but you also gotta remember that I know how to use a computer, even goin to college to get a degree that says that. Hell, the tabs that the bracket that holds the heat sink to my processor connects to broke, so I have a big zip strip around the entire board holdin the heat sink on! Redneck computer repair, gotta love it!
I rented a place in the country on a small lake because the garage is twice as big as the apartment (one long bld). Since moving in 3 month's ago in my 70 F100 (msd distributor/6a with summint racing muffler's, h-pipe and dual exaust out each side), I have bought a 74 Bultaco motocross bike, a 72 comet at auction(I wanted the 302), and a 62 F350 (exhaust has big hole which I will fix last..rumble rumble). Also there is a VW beetle half finished in the corner(this is my car for the little streets) and two and a half beetle engine's.
I spend more money on tool's than I do food (excluding beer). If I look at the map on the way to work and there is a way I can go down a dirt road without taking much longer, I will go down the dirt road. I usually chase deer with my truck up the driveway, trying to keep them from fleeing to saftey back across the road (waiting for their antler's to develop). When I take stuff to the junkyard to get rid of I alway's bring some stuff back home. Sometime's more than I took.
I planted corn around the pack porch as decorative shrubbery. When I go somewhere fancy I polish my redwing's.
I am going to a truck show this weekend in Tennessee in a town that is not even on any of my map's (springton, north of reliance). Typical weekend activite's include going to the supercross/motocross (10 min away), going to the ARMA flat track race's (you haven't been to a race till you see(hear) these guy's get their classic indian's, bsa's, bultoco's, harley's, etc. sideway's on the dirt) (20 min), going to the dirt track stock car race's (30 min), and the antique tractor pull is about an hour away (hope to make it to this one soon). And yes as money permit's I want to get one of each and race myself.
I am currently looking for my own land so I can buy as many car's and truck's as I want to, 1972 being the newest (74 in bikes) I just bought an air compressor (1970's) and a welder is at the top of my wish list) I am also looking at a 71 F100 for $100 so I can learn to weld and do body work (I can't hurt it).
I also like old F600's and tractor trailer's, not because I really need one(yet) but because I want one.
I shave once a week if I feel like it, a dewalt racing cap is better than combing and I'm tired of typing, I need a beer.
My left arm is sunburned from hangin' out the driver door so I guess I am a Redarm.
