It does have a fuse but the pumps occasionally go bad. You might take a test light and see if it gets power to the pump when they are activated. I think you'll find that it is probably bad.
Well we still don't know which year truck you have, but the book I have that covers 93-99 models says IP fuse pannel position 2 (8amp) or position 12 (10 amp) powers the washer pump, depending on which year you have, between those dates.
So if yours is a different year, just open the IP pannel cover & look for a blown fuse.
If you replace it & it immediately blows again, you need to determine WHY, it's likly a bad pump, as has been suggested, or wiring or pump short circuit to ground that must be put right.
Look in your owners manual for the position & fuse value, if you don't have one & the truck is a 96 or newer, you can down load one from the MotorCraft or My Ford web page as Ken has suggested.
hold the button in on the switch and jiggle it around while holding it in... after about 10 seconds of wiggling and jiggling it it will start working (you have to be a little rough on that turn signal switch)... it will then work much better for a week or two, after which you will cuss and replace the "multi-function switch" (or as we like to call it... "multi-malfunction switch") when it quits working again.
OK, I tried that and it does have a short in the Washer switch or has some crud in it. How hard is this switch to change out? How much of the Streering column does one have to disassemble?
Jeff before you spring for a new multifunction switch, check out the no charge service program # 00B40, as certain 99 & 2000 Ranger, Explorer, mountaineer, Expedition, Navigator & Villager vehicles, multifunction switches were being replaced at no charge.
In the letter I recieved from Ford there was no time stipulation listed.
I had mine replaced in May 2000 by the dealer.
So call your dealer & have them check your VIN number to see if yours is covered, if so it will save you some aggreviation and money!!!!
