Working on a new 2005 ranger xlt project truck. Looking for opinions on wheels.
Their are so many choices out in the market so I'm looking for advice on if you could ahev any rim for your truck what would it be.
Please post pic or link to wheels.
Thanks.
When I was looking to get rid of my 14" wheels--only thing wrong is that 14" tires are expensive compared to 15"ers--I went with some Exploder wheels. I wasn't looking to spend gobs of money on marginal looking aftermarket wheels, but I know factory Exploder wheels tend to be better looking than some Ranger versions.
I did not want to lift my truck, yet at least, so 16's and skinny tires were out of the question for cost reasons.
That's what I got x 5 for a full-size spare. You may want to go the next size up, since you might already have 15s.....find some Exploder 16's or maybe Mountaineer/Aviator wheels are better looking.
That's just how I did it. Spend $750 total on real nice factory wheels from someone in town. Everyone loves the look, my stepdad basically recommended I barb-wire my truck to keep the wheels on (heh), but I liked these, too:
I guess I should have made the statement also this is a trade show project vehicle. So money is no goal but were looking for stylish products.
I noticed this one and wanted to see what opinions are.
If its a trade show truck, I'd recommend 18 x 7 rims and some low profile sport truck tires with a sexy unidirectional tread pattern. I had a VW Toureg with stock 18's and the stock tires were about 30" diameter. These would fit an unlifted Ranger. Personally, I'd go for a rim like the Harley Davidson 18's BUT in the 4.5" bolt circle; the stock 135mm F-150's won't work.
I would recommand 17's but thats just me. I have ASA-TRS 17" rims with perill P-6 all season highperformance tires on them on a 1998 Ranger and they look great. My truck is lowered 3" and I still have plenty of clearance with these rim and tire combo. I would recommand going to www.thetirerack.com for some great ideas. They have a rather large selection of rims and tires. The ASA-TRS rims are a 6 spoke rim. They aren't real flashy but they look really nice on a lowered Ranger. Just some suggestions. I would go with Goodyear F-1 ultra high performance tires though no matter what rims you select for the truck.
