My column has been rattling since I got the truck. There is about a 1/16" play up and down from what appears to be center. I had the same prob in my 66 mustang and all it took was some new bushings. Is this going to be the same. If so how about some part #'s
Ryan,
Do you have an automatic tranny or standard?
There are bearings in the column that must be replaced. I usually scavenge from the junkyard but, you'll find that the steering column is a weak link on this model truck and most are picked clean quickly.
Sometimes the shifter collar can wear out and it will rattle but this usually means its difficult to shift.
You'll need a repair manual, some patience, and some elbow grease.

Its a 302, 4spd. I wasn't planning on getting used parts to fix it. I've run into situation where all I did was take a column apart and put bad pieces right back in.
Ryan,
Your going to have a bad time getting replacement parts. I went to the dealer with parts in hand and the guy looked at me like i was crazy. He was right! They say he'll walk again, someday?
Anyways, maybe the web store here could help you.
