I love my 3 in the floor

I just put a floor shifter in my 72 f-100, it's a 100% improvement over the column shifter and was easy to install, I used the Mr. Gasket one. Have any of y'all had any trouble with these or are these pretty good? Oh and it sure does make the interior appearance better as well, kinda sporty!

It might just be because I have a cheap one in my truck. But I had to do a lot of work to it to make it nice. The guy who owned the truck before me, and the one who installed the shifter, must have did some hard shifts into 3rd because it was really sloppy. So I had to weld up the hole that the selector pin goes into and make it tight. While I was at it, I shortened the metal plates on the tranny, made it nice and tight, just like a car. Now all I need is a chatter free clutch and it will be like a new truck.

except for the rust, the major shimmy on the highway, and the oil pressure thing. but other than that its like brand new.

I know you guys are talking about manual trans trucks, but my '72 started out with a 4-speed on the floor and when it was converted to an automatic, a B&M Star shifter was used rather than an automatic column. I really like it.

Yeah this one is tight, alittle long for reverse though. I gotta tell ya i think I gotta steal on this truck it has no clutch chatter, no vibrations at any speed, brakes are even and tight, great oil pressure, 70 psi on start up and after it's warmed up it never gets under 30 psi at idle, 50 psi when your rolling and never overheats, and the tranny never grinds, smooth shifts. I love my truck!!!

I just put the Hurst Indy shifter in Mine but haven't been able to try it out yet. Did any of you guys have a problem with the speedometer cable access on your tranny?

Just slightly. Once you have the main bracket installed on your transmission, you may ned to bend it alittle up with a pry bar in order for the speedo cable to fit correctly.

I had a hurst in my '70 for awhile. I had to get rid of it because the main bolt kept coming loose and it kept locking my gears up. I have since installed a Mr Gasket and have happy with it.

I do have 2 problems with the Mr Gasket gearshift kit thou... It comes with these weird looking type of cotter pins that were a pain in the but to get on. I lost one driving down the highway. Stopped at a Ace hardware bought a regular cotter pin and it was fixed and snugg. Why do they change things when they aren't broken.

The other thing it the shifter ball. My shifter ball is slowly pealing. I don't know if it a piece of **t ba;; or my hands are too sweety. My kid wants me to get one that lights up. I may just buy a pistal grip.
